Hello, fellow sewing enthusiasts and beginners! Today, I am thrilled to share a highly practical and incredibly easy sewing project that you can complete right at home. We are going to make a Double-Pocket Mini Clutch Wallet using only ONE piece of fabric.

Usually, sewing a wallet or a pouch can be intimidating for beginners. It often requires multiple pieces of fabric for the exterior and lining, heavy interfacing, and confusing printable patterns. However, this tutorial uses a "magic folding" technique. By simply folding a single piece of fabric, you can create a sturdy wallet with two separate compartments. It’s also a fantastic, eco-friendly way to use up those fabric scraps (fat quarters) lying around your craft room!

Materials Needed

Before we start sewing, let's gather our supplies. Here is what you will need:

• Main Fabric (1 Piece):  80cm x 20cm (You can easily adjust these dimensions to make the wallet larger or smaller. A medium-weight cotton canvas or quilting cotton works best.)

• Strap Fabric: 32cm x 8cm, 8cm x 5cm (For the wristlet strap.)

• Notions: 1 set of Snap buttons, 1 D-ring, 1 Swivel clasp.

• Basic Sewing Tools: Sewing machine, matching thread, fabric scissors, sewing clips or pins, point turner (or a chopstick), and an iron.

Step-by-Step Instructions: Sewing a Wallet from One Fabric Piece

Step 1: Cut the Fabric

Cut your fabric into a neat rectangle according to the dimensions above.

Step 2: The Magic Fold (The Most Important Step!) The secret to this patternless wallet is how we fold it. We are going to fold the fabric into a zigzag or "W" shape to create the two pockets.

1. Lay the fabric flat vertically. Fold the bottom edge up by about [Measurement]. This creates your first pocket.

Step 3: Sew the Side Seams Once your fabric is folded perfectly, secure the sides tightly with sewing clips or pins so the layers don't shift. Take it to your sewing machine and sew a straight stitch down both the left and right sides using a [1/2 inch or 1 cm] seam allowance. Do not sew the top flap! Always remember to backstitch at the beginning and end of your seams for durability.

Step 4: Turn Inside Out and Press Now for the fun part! Reach into the pocket area and carefully turn the wallet right side out. Use a point turner or a blunt chopstick to gently poke out the bottom corners so they are nice and sharp. Take your wallet to the ironing board and give it a good, hard press. Pressing is the secret to making homemade items look professional!

Step 5: Attach the Snap and Wristlet Strap To keep your belongings secure, find the center of your flap and install a snap button. Finally, clip your pre-made wristlet strap (using the D-ring and swivel clasp) to the side of the wallet. And there you have it—a beautiful, highly functional double-pocket clutch wallet is complete!
