How to Make a Fabric Pencil Case with Snap Pocket and Side Zipper Pocket

A practical pouch for the new school season

This project is a fabric pencil case with extra storage features that make it even more useful than a simple zip pouch.
The front has a snap-button pocket, perfect for storing small items like erasers, memo pads, or stickers. On the side, there is a zipper pocket, which is great for keeping coins, USB drives, or tiny stationery securely.

On the top of the pencil case, I added a D-ring, so you can easily attach it to a bag, hang it on a hook, or clip on a key charm.
With multiple compartments and practical details, this pencil case is especially useful for the new school term.

In this post, you’ll find the required materials, step-by-step photos of the making process, and a tutorial video link so you can follow along comfortably.

Step-by-Step Making Process

In the photos below, you can see the full making process:

cutting the fabric pieces

adding the D-ring

preparing the pockets

sewing the side zipper pocket

assembling the main pencil case body

final stitching and finishing touches

attaching the snap button to the front pocket

Even though this pencil case has multiple pockets,
the pattern is simple and beginner-friendly.
